Scotland Cities and Towns
Although Edinburgh is considered to be the most beautiful city in the UK, don't underestimate Glasgow with it's many art galleries and museums. Both cities are located in the central belt of Scotland, Glasgow in the west on the banks of the River Clyde and Edinburgh, home to the Scottish Parliament, is sutated to the east, on the south bank of the firth of forth. Both cities offer a wide variety of tourist attractions such as festivals and museums and both towns are great for shopping. One fifth of the population of Scotland live in one of these towns.
The other towns in Scotland are much smaller but that doesn't mean they are less attractive. Aberdeen, also known as granite city, in the north-east of Scotland is the third most populous city and has an official population estimate of 210,400. Aberdeen is also known as Oil Capitol of Europe because many of the oil platforms in the north-sea and companies have their base here. Dundee is the fourth largest city in Scotland and employs many people in software development and the biotechnology. As capitol of the Highlands, Inverness is probably one of the most famous cities in Scotland, located north of Loch Ness and for many the gateway to the Scottish Highlands, where Oban is the gateway to the Inner Hebrides and the Wester Isles.
